The Vincennes University Board of Trustees will hear a recommendation next month for the university to contribute $2 million toward the cost of completing improvements to Vincennes’ Wabash River levee to ensure it remains federally accredited.
The VU Board of Trustees Finance Committee approved the recommendation this week, which is to be presented to the full board June 26th.
Earlier this wekk it was reported that Vincennes needs $5 million to replace seepage relief wells that extend about 3,000 feet along the levee.
The US Army Corp of Engineers has determined that the current relief wells must b replaced because they date back to the 1950s.
