The Washington School Board accepted the retirement of Washington High School’s Athletic Director, received an update on today’s e-Learning Day, and passed funding resolutions and set special meetings for the potential building program at Thursday night’s meeting. With the retirement of Gene Miiller, Washington High School will have a new athletic director heading into the next school year. But, Miiller will still be on the sidelines at the Hatchet House next basketball season. In a separate action, the School Board re-appointed the Hall of Fame coach to lead the Hatchets basketball program. Miiller is just three wins away from 700 career victories and ranks third among active coaches in the number of victories. Miiller ranks ninth in the number of all-time career victories

The Board also accepted the retirement of veteran elementary teacher Deborah Kassell. In other personnel action, the Board approved hiring Senior Chief Ronnie Brown as an assistant in the NJROTC program.

Washington’s first e-learning day scheduled for today, there were concerns about how teachers in classes like music, art, and PE could use technology in their areas. At Thursday’s meeting, elementary music teacher Denise Walden and several of her students, demonstrated to the Board how Quaver, a music education program on their chromebooks could be used on e-Learning days.

And the Board passed funding resolutions and announced that they will hold special meetings on April 2 and April 22 to discuss the potential building project. Both meetings will be held at Griffith Elementary and will begin at 6 p.m.
