Washington Police and 230 law enforcement agencies across Indiana are advising drivers of a increased patrols throughout the month of March.

The “Obey the Sign or Pay the Fine” campaign begins tomorrow.  Officials say as spring approaches, many tend to be tempted to increase speeds and take more risks when behind the wheel.  Local police agencies will be aiming to prevent unsafe driving and save lives all month long.

Failing to yield the right of way is said to be one of the top causes of crashes that can lead to injury or death. Following too close and unsafe lane changes are also top causes of serious accidents.  Unsafe speed, driving too fast for the weather and disregarding traffic signals are other offenses that can cause damage and tragedy.  Young people, men especially are said to be more likely to engage in unsafe driving.

Again, aggressive police patrols will be conducted throughout March to cut down on those who do not obey traffic law.
