Cops and Kids in Washington is one week  away .  It’s the 28th annual event where 3 to 5 year old students from Daviess and Martin Counties receive a police escort to the local Wal-Mart for a morning of shopping for clothes, shoes and toys.  There were 170 kids served last year with around $125 spent per kid.

Steve Riney with the local FOP has organized the event for years and he says donations are always being sought…

In addition to city, county and state police officers,  firefighters, corrections officers, conservation officers and more also help out.  The kids are from the Washington, Odon and Martin County Head Starts and 4 Rivers Pre-School.  Again next Thursday the 20th and donations are being accepted at police and sheriff’s departments in Daviess and Martin Counties.  You can make checks payable to FOP Cops and Kids.
