Motorist arrested for almost hitting firefighter at accident scene

A motorist involved in an accident fled the scene on foot and was captured, meanwhile at the same location; a passing motorist was arrested for nearly hitting a First Responder on that scene.

        The accident was reported at 10:23pm Friday on 57 and Center near Family Video.  A vehicle hit a utility pole knocking power lines down resulting city power workers and the fire department being called.  There were several people in the vehicle and one ran from the scene according to police logs.  City Officers captured him and he was identified as Pedro Guzman Lopez and was charged with two counts of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated including with .15% or Higher and Endangering a Person.  He was also charged with Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Operating While Never Licensed and Possession of a False Government ID.

        As authorities were working the crash, police reports state that a passing motorist nearly struck a firefighter.  After pursuing and stopping the car, the driver, Jarrett B. Shuetz was taken to the security center charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Refusal and OVWI with Endangerment.
