Authorities investigated a suspicious package left between the pumps at Casey’s General Store in Odon yesterday.  The item was a taped up cardboard box and Chief Deputy Gary Allison said it was feared that it may have been a bomb.

After the 2:36pm report, authorities arrived, and the area was secured and State Road 58 in the area was shut down and a half mile radius evacuated.   A bomb squad from Mitchell was called in to assist.

After an investigation it was determined the package was not an explosive device.  The investigation is continuing.  Law enforcement is advising the public if they encounter a similar incident to report it immediately and do not approach an item or package deemed suspicious.
