As the world continues to mourn the passing  as well as remember and celebrate the life of the man known as the Protestant Pope, one local pastor recalls his time when he  was a teenager and being trained to work at a Billy Graham Crusade.

Joe Coquillard is Lead Pastor at New Hope Christian Church in Washington. He was in Arizona at age 17 when in the spring of 1974 the news hit that Billy Graham would be in the city of Tempe that May.  It was then that Joe heard about Billy Graham School of Evangelism…

After spending his teen years in Arizona, Coquillard went on to serve at churches in California, Oregon and Kansas and now in Indiana.  He talked to us about Graham’s Mass appeal to those of all walks of life..

Pastor Coquillard never had a chance to meet Billy Graham but he says the man who would go on to preach to over 15 million people across the planet made a big impression on him as a young Christian.

Billy Graham’s Funeral is Tuesday in Charlotte, North Carolina.
