Safety Forum Reviewed Recent Incident and Revisited Safety Plans

Administrators, police, and the prosecutor’s office held a safety forum last night where they talked to parents about Friday’s situation at Loogootee Community Schools.  Nonviable threats were made and the school was dismissed early and searched.   School officials ran down what happened Friday to about 200 in attendance.  They said two students made threats of having weapons on campus.  The The Washington Times Herald reports that School Superintendent Chip Mehaffey said they’re using Friday’s situation as an opportunity to revisit and improve their safety protocol. The school corporation is launching an online tool for the community to report things anonymously.  Once it’s ready you will find it on the school corporation’s website.
