Patrick J. O’Brien, 77, of Loogootee, passed away at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Loogootee Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born July 1, 1940 in Loogootee, Indiana to the late Desmond O’Brien and Marie (Carrico) O’Brien Wildman.
Patrick retired after 20 years of employment from Jasper Woodworking/Best Chair in Jasper, Indiana. He attended St. Martin Catholic Church and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, rabbit hunting and breeding and raising Beagles. He was an avid IU basketball and football fan.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Desmond O’Brien; parents, Desmond O’Brien and Marie (Richard) Wildman; brother, Michael O’Brien; sister, Miriam Birkman, brothers-in-law, Richard Poertner and Donald Miller; son-in-law, Bill J. Armstrong.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Vivian (Collins) O’Brien; children, Mike D. (Julie) of Holland, Kelly S. (Stephen) O’Brien of Loogootee, Chris L. (Jennifer) of Stendal; step-children, Naydine Armstrong of Loogootee, Richard A. (Cindy) Fuhrman of Loogootee and Linda Lee Ann (Dennis) Peschel of New Ulm, TX; 8 grandchildren and 8 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 17 step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert D. (Flora) O’Brien of Huntingburg, Mary Q. Poertner of Washington, Missouri and Margaret Miller of Cannelburg.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Blake Funeral Home, 300 Church Street, Loogootee, Indiana. Burial will follow in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home.
