Load Limits Implemented

10 ton load limits on county roads in Daviess and Martin Counties are in effect.  The limits have been put in place due to the recent thaw softening the ground under roads leaving them susceptible to damage by heavy trucks and equipment.  Both Daviess and Martin Counties have road bonding programs where a bond is posted to use a road, it’s then inspected and if there is damage, then it’s paid for by the person or business responsible.  Also Daviess County has a permit process where trucks can make deliveries on certain roads if they have a permit. More on that process is available from the Daviess County Highway Department.

Officials advise the limits may be in place for a time as weather predictions show conditions causing continuous freezing and thawing for awhile.
