Joseph Yerkes, 78 of Washington went to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 10, 2017.
Joe enjoyed walking to Walmart every morning and it was during one of these walks that he was tragically taken from us.
Joe was born to the late Sherman and Catherine Yerkes (Brummett) on January 10, 1939. He attended Washington High School and had never met a stranger. Joe enjoyed stopping by Hardees’s and socializing most every morning, and frequently made trips to Dinky’s. Joe also enjoyed antiques and bargaining on sales.
Survivors include, a son Andy Booker; six sisters, Esther Fleetwood, Margaret Grow, Alberta Cannon, Sue Mildred Fox, Wilma Jean Mayhew(Danny), Marsha Reisert (Fritz). Joe was preceded in death by three brothers Charles, Leroy, and Sherman Jr. Yerkes.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 4pm until 8pm at Gill Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 1pm also at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Oakgrove Cemetery.
