After a 15 year process the bridge over the White River north of Wheatland linking Daviess and Knox Counties is finally officially opened.  The steel truss bridge was dedicated yesterday with elected and other county officials from both counties on hand for the ceremony.

It cost a quarter million dollars for the rehabilitation project both counties worked together to get the project completed.

The bridge was first opened in 1903 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.  The current project took so long due to what the Washington Times Herald  described as bidding, engineering and weather issues.

The bridge now has a 15 ton load limit after going years for with only a 3 ton limit due to its condition.
