Mary Ellen Yancey, 86, of Washington, IN, went to her Heavenly Home from Prairie Village Nursing Center on April 16, 2017.
She was born the youngest of 7 children on September 19, 1930 in Hinton, West Virginia to Henry A. and Ollie M. (Allutt) Young. She attended Hinton West Virginia Schools. On October 7, 1954, Mary married the love of her life, the late Donald Truman Yancey. She studied to be a nurse’s aid and worked at the Washington Nursing Center, Prairie Village, and the Dollar General
Mary is survived by her children Frank L. Yancey (Debbie) of Washington, Donald L. Yancey, of Washington; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald T. Yancey; her parents; and 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
The funeral service for Mary will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 1pm at Gill Funeral Home. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 4-8pm and prior to the service from 12-1pm all at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Sugarland Memory Gardens.
