39-year-old Heather Dawn Christmas of Loogootee, also known as Heather Carrico has a court date set for May 6th in connection with an accident which resulted in the death of her mother, Joyce Christmas.

Carrico is facing two counts of causing death when operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol content of .15 percent or more, and  operating a motor vehicle causing death with a schedule I or schedule II controlled substance.

Carrico was in court Tuesday requesting a court appointed attorney. The Washington Times Herald reports that Michael Fritch’s law office will represent her.
On February 16th, authorities were called about the accident at County Road 1200-east south of 500-North at 8:30. The report was that there was a vehicle submerged in the water at West Boggs lake. When officers arrived, Joyce D. Christmas of Loogootee was still in the car and deputies immediately went in to extract her. She was taken to Daviess Community Hospital and pronounced dead.
