Charles D. “Jack” Wesner

Charles D. “Jack” Wesner, 90, of Odon, passed away Monday at The Arbor House Assisted Living in Marble Falls, Texas.

 
 
 
He was born in Newberry on Jan. 24, 1927, to John and Tressa (Hasler) Wesner. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty (Seneff) Wesner of Odon; son John Wesner and his wife Mary Wesner of Southampton, New Jersey; daughter Dr. Connie Lavoie and her husband Norman Lavoie, of Marble Falls, Texas; and daughter Judge Melinda Kirkpatrick and her husband Crawford Kirkpatrick, of Meadowlakes, Texas. He was also an exceptional grandfather to Joshua Wesner, Anna Wesner, Emma Wesner, Sean Lavoie, Katherine Kirkpatrick, Walker Kirkpatrick, Sarah Kirkpatrick and Cody Kirkpatrick; great-grandfather to Rigo Wesner, Armondo Wesner and Alyssia Wesner.
Jack is preceded in death by his brothers Eugene Wesner of Martinsville and Max Wesner of Newberry. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Stewart of Newberry.
He graduated from Newberry High School in 1944 and Purdue University in 1950 with a degree in dairy manufacturing. Jack was employed by Kraft Foods for 37 years. Jack belonged to many food organizations connected to the dairy industry. During his career, he traveled extensively throughout the United States. He met his sweetheart, Betty, from Odon, and they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last year.
Jack was a 50-year Mason with the Newberry Lodge. He was also a World War ll veteran and served in the South Pacific and was honored with a WWll American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon and WWll Victory Ribbon for his service. Jack was an avid golfer.
The viewing will be held at the United Methodist Church in Odon on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Odon. Burial will be held in Newberry at the Prairie Chapel Cemetery.
