Richard J. Tennis, age 82, of Washington, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 6:00 pm at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

 


He was born on May 8, 1934 in Washington to Francis and Mary Irene (Healy) Tennis. He graduated from Washington Catholic High School in 1952. He was a farmer who enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing euchre. He served ten years in the Indiana National Guard.
He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
He is survived by wife, Mary Jane (Moeller) Tennis whom he married September 7, 1973; son, Richard (Chris) Tennis of Washington; two daughters, Mary Ann Brown of Elnora and Laura (James) Belleau of Newburgh; sister, Eleanor (Tim) Mattingly of Montgomery; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bonnie Tennis
of Washington
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Tennis
and grandson, Francis Tennis
A mass of Christian burial will be will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Ferguson as celebrant. Burial will be at a later date at St John Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
