Commissioners met Friday, approved a zoning change and heard about the 15th Street Bridge project

The Daviess County Commissioners met in a rare end of the week meeting Friday morning.  They approved a zoning change from agricultural to industrial for the County Highway Garage.  County Highway Superintendent Phil Cornelius said that with the addition of the asphalt plant, the Highway Garage is more of an industrial area and the change would be more in line with the County’s zoning code.

The Commissioners also approved changes in the contract with natural gas supplier Constellation Energy, a partnership agreement on the Martin County Workforce Development Grant.

In another mater they agreed to hold a joint meeting with the County Council to discuss options for refinancing bonds, and approved updates in the County’s Personnel Policy dealing with blood borne pathogens, workday length, and health insurance.

County Engineer Jason Heile  recommended the firm of BFS to do survey and design work on the 15th Street Bridge project.  Heile said surveying should begin in the early spring and a public informational meeting would be held in the fall.

Heile also announced that the bridge between 700 N and 800 N on County Road 900 East would be replaced and the road in that area would be closed for about three months, beginning Monday.  Heile also said that Knox County would be working on the White River Bridge on Old Vincennes Road and the bridge would be closed most of the construction season.
