Daviess County Economic Development Foundation Director Ron Arnold approached the Daviess County Commissioners concerning a project that would relocate the 4-H Fairgrounds, provide a County Extension Education Facility, and an outdoor events center. Arnold said the recent Lily grant provided the opportunity for the development along the I-69 corridor. Arnold said the project would provide the county with opportunities for tourism and economic development. Arnold asked if the Commissioners would consider allocating unused county-owned land near the airport for the project. Ray Crawford reported the Airport Board was against the project because of possible future expansion of the airport. Commissioner Nathan Gabhart was strongly opposed to even considering the project while Commissioners Michael Taylor and Dan Jones had questions but said they would like to have more information before making a decision.
