Washington School Board met on Thursday

A report on the staff’s personal development was the main topic of Thursday’s Washington Community School Board meeting.  Classes are dismissed early every Wednesday for the development days.

Assistant Superintendent Kevin Frank reported the elementary faculty has had training related to the new social studies textbook series.  The elementary faculty is also working on understanding the new state math standards.

At the secondary level, the faculty are focusing on the implementation of technology and a one-on-one initiative utilizing Chrome books in the classroom.

 

In other business the Board approved an FFA trip to the National Convention in Louisville on October 30.

In personnel items the board filled several ECA positions and granted two medical leaves for faculty members.  Steven Smith will fill one medical leave for the remainder of the first semester.  Megan Worland will fill a leave during the second semester from Feb. 29 through April 26.

A special Board meeting is scheduled for next Thursday evening.
