Cleo Wilcher


Cleo Wilcher, 82, of Loogootee, Indiana, formerly of Wanamaker/Acton area passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 12:45 a.m. at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born October 19, 1932 in Lincoln County, KY to the late Matt and Elizabeth (Lizzie Smith) Wilcher.
Cleo married Dorothy Jean (Sexson) on February 25, 1955 and she survives.
From 1950 to 1953 Cleo served in the U.S. Army achieving the rank of Corporal, serving abroad in Japan, in support of the Korean War where he earned the National Service Defense Medal. He enjoyed working on his farm, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was a livestock dealer and farmer for most of his life. He was the owner of Loogootee-Jasper Livestock Center, Inc. He was a member of the VFW Post 9395, American Legion Post 120 and Beech Grove Masonic Lodge 694 for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Lizzie Wilcher and brothers, Matt Jr., Lawrence and Vernon Wilcher.
Cleo is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Sexson) Wilcher of Loogootee; son, Larry (Cindy) Wilcher of Montgomery; daughters, Denise (David) Sutherland and Darlene (Mike) Bradley both of New Palestine and Rosie (Doug) Bridges of Loogootee; brother, Gerald Wilcher; two sisters, Violet Mattingly and Anna Lee Hoyt. Cleo was the proud grandfather of Todd (Stacy), Kyle and Darren (Sarah) Wilcher, Cleo, Jennifer, Dwayne (Kristi), and Doug (Miranda) Sutherland, Dottie (Jim) Webb, Levi (Sherry) Bradley, Leah (Zach) Herron, Laura (Shane) Williams and Chassidy Bridges. He also had great grandchildren, Dakota Adams, Keegan O’Neill, Garath, Maggie and Addie Webb, Lilly Maxwell, Scott and Lexi Bradley, Aubree Herron, Will Sutherland, Jase Wilcher and Liam Williams.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home.
