Marilyn “Kay” Abbott

Marilyn “Kay” Abbott, 77, of Washington, passed away Thursday at her residence.

She was born Oct. 6, 1937, in Plainville, to Carl K. and Mary M. (Reynolds) Dougherty.

She was a Plainville High School graduate. Along with farming, she worked at Citizen’s Bank, Breidenbaugh’s Concrete, Daviess County Courthouse, Prairie Village Living Center and most recentily American Security.

Kay married her former husband, George E. Abbott, on June 25, 1959, and together they had four children.

Surviving are two daughters, Elaine (Dexter) Stafford of South Carolina and Shelli Abbott of Washington; one son, Collin (Dawn) Abbott of Washington; a sister and best friend, Leah (Art) Farley of Plainville; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Lianne Wiscaver; and a niece, Felicia Lawyer.

There will be no visitation. A private graveside ceremony will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to 7706 S. State Road 257, Washington, IN 47501.
