Two people were injured in a Sunday ATV crash in Pike County.
It was reported at 3:52 pm and conservation officers learned that 18-year-old Jonathan Schum of Huntingburg was operating the Honda 400 EX traveling south on Pike Count Road 1075 East at Velpen.. 16-year-old Paige Kluemper was of Petersburg was a passenger.
Officers say Schum was travling at a high rate speeding and hit a vehicle coming out of a driveway driven by 47-year-old Marilyn Hanselman. The ATV hit the SUV and flipped throwing both from the four wheeler.
Schum was flown by Air Evac to Deaconess Hospitall Evansville and was treated for a cut to the head. Kluemper was taken to St. Mary’s in Evansville with minor injuries.
Neither of the ATV occupants had helmets or protective gear and alcohol may have been a factor.
