Wilbert R. Evans, 92, of Odon, passed away at 4:07 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

Born September 24, 1922 in Dunnville, Kentucky, he was the son of Asa Sr. and Ida (Patton) Evans.

He served his country in the United States Army in World War II, Korean War and Laos. He then worked for NSWC Crane as a Technician Specialist retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Odon VFW #9627.

Surviving relatives include: two sons, Wilbert Dale Evans (Brenda Dove) of Odon and David Michael Evans (Paula) of Linton; his brothers, George Evans and Buford Evans both of Bloomington and Winfrey Evans of Hustonville, Kentucky; sisters, Betty Downey of Lagrange, Kentucky, Dollie Lucas of Middlesbury, Kentucky and Delilah Lentz and Margaret Bowmer both of Bloomington; Nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Overstreet) Evans on January 30, 1997, two sons, Delbert Evans and Donald Evans, three brothers, three sisters and a grandson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon.

Public Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Odon VFW #9627 in Wilbert’s name.
