The Indiana Commission for Higher Education says more Hoosier students have completed their financial aid applications on time this year.

The commission reported Thursday that about 9,000 more high school seniors submitted their Free Application for Financial Aid on time in 2015. That’s 78 percent of all Indiana high school seniors, a 12 percentage point increase over last year.

About $300 million in state financial aid is available this year for Indiana students who qualify. To be eligible students are required to complete their application by Indiana’s deadline on March 10.

Colleges also use the financial aid information to help choose scholarship recipients so it’s recommended that all students complete the application regardless of their financial aid eligibility.
