No primary in Washington

The Daviess County Election Board has opted not to have a primary municipal election in May.

Daviess County Clerk Janice Williams says the board’s meeting on Monday resulted in the decision which was unanimous.

The reason was because there are no contested races in the democrat or republican party.  Not having an election will save the county time and money.

Party leaders say they’ll continue to look for candidates to try and fill up a November ballot.  June 30th is the deadline to file for candidacy in the fall election.
