The former commanding officer at the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center from July of 2008 to October 2011 has passed away.
US Navy Captain Charles Lasota of Bloomfield died Monday from pancreatic cancer.
Following retirement and until his diagnosis in Nov. 2014, he served as the President/CEO of the Battery Innovation Center , a non-profit organization located at the WestGate Technology Park. He also served on the Board of Directors for Operation Job Ready Veterans which is dedicated to preparing veterans for employment and as the President of the Hoosier Trails Council for Boy Scouts of America.
