LICENSE FEES

-If you lose your driver’s license, it can cost you big money to get it back. Indiana may roll back those fees. If you’re suspended for driving without insurance, there’s a 250-dollar reinstatement fee — it doubles if it happens again. Indianapolis Senator Greg Taylor wants to temporarily drop that fee to 50 bucks, and a Senate committee is thinking about making that cut permanent. Indianapolis Representative Robin Shackleford wants to offer a temporary deal not just on reinstatement fees, but unpaid traffic fines.

 SCHOOL BUS SAFETY

 — No parent should ever have to bury their child, said the mother of three children who were killed crossing the highway to get on the school bus Oct. 30, in Fulton County. She spoke in support on a bill that would increase penalties for people who do not stop for stop arms on school buses. State Sen. Randy Head (R-Logansport), said the bill also mandates that no child should have to cross a busy road or highway. He said the bill is not in its final form and may eventually include stop arm cameras for buses, and a school bus safety test each time you renew your driver’s license.
