Evansville post wins shooting contest

The state police post in Evansville won some bragging rights last Friday at the annual ISP Shooting Competition held at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy at Plainfield.

        16, four person teams from each of the state’s state police posts competed.  The team from Evansville won and they were Sergeant George Smith, Sergeant Russ Werkmeister, Senior Trooper/Detective Wes Kuykendall and Senior Trooper Korey Mauck.

        The troopers stood and shot their issued .45 caliber semiautomatic handguns one handed at a bull’s eye target at 25 yards.   The officers competed on slow fire, rapid fire and timed fire courses.
