Daviess County 4H has received a $1000 grant to update wiring in their livestock barns at the 4H grounds.

As you may remember, last month there was a drive to vote on Facebook for Daviess County 4H intitiated by Grinnell Mutual, a Casualty Insurance Company. They are the largest primary reinsurer of farm mutual companies in North America.  Back in September, Daviess County was one of 15 finalists in the endeavor for Grinnell to hand out monetary awards to 4H programs across the country.  Each submitted projects to Grinnell who then began the contest.

The Washington Times Herald reports that Daviess County 4H was one of five grant winners in the project.

80 project submissions from 12 states were received by the insurance company. 27,000 votes were cast on Facebook by 4H supporters for their favorite projects among the 15finalists. The five winning recipients shared a total of $7,000 worth of grants and were chosen based on the number of votes.
