Recent air quality tests have found 2 of 30 structures tested have contaminate levels too high for residential properties. That’s according to a report in today’s Washington Times Herald.
Found were high traces of trychloroethylne known as TCE. It’s a solvent used to clean metal and according to the story the Environmental Protection Agency has tried to ban it. Their website lists health concerns associated with exposure to the chemical. The residential level that is acceptable for TCE is 2.1 micro-grams per cubic meter. In the two homes that tested over, one was at 2.26 and the other was at 3.28.
Officials will be meeting with the EPC to find out what the next steps are. However, they say that most involved with the project are pleased with the findings so far.
