Skimming Device Found in Jasper

scam-alert-wrap-2

Over the weekend, Jasper Police report a credit card skimming device was found attached to a fuel pump #3 at the Sunset Citgo station on Third Street in Jasper.

The report says a pump technician located the device installed inside the fuel pump where it could not be detected by users.

A credit card skimming device can copy your account information from the magnetic strips on the back of credit or debit cards. Criminals can then use the information to copy bank cards and use the copies as if they are the actual card.

Police are warning the public to be vigilant when using credit or debit cards. Be sure to check fuel pumps, ATM machines, and other card reading devices before using them.
