The steps of the Daviess County Courthouse were filled with those who pray.
The National Day of Prayer was started in the 50’s under President Harry Truman. In 1988, the Congress and President formally named the first Thursday of May as the yearly observance.
Pastor Chris Byers with Good Shepherd Church officiated the ceremony saying this year’s theme is “Wake Up America”
Community leaders, office holders, pastors and others offered prayers for the nation, family, schools, the church, media and business at the noon time event today.
