A man was jailed Saturday after leading police on a chase through parts of Daviess, Martin and Greene Counties.
34-year-old Dewayne I. Bays with an address on the sheriff’s department website listed as Taswell, Indiana…is charged with resisting law enforcement in a vehicle and on foot, reckless driving causing property damage and being a habitual traffic offender. He is being held without bond.
Logs state it all started at 2:20-pm at the Coffee Haus in Odon where Bays was reported to be passed out in a vehicle that was in gear. Shortly after, the vehicle was said to be on the move. The police reports say there was a point where Bays allegedly struck an EMT with the driver’s side door of his vehicle knocking the EMT to the ground.
The chase went from 900 east into Martin County on 231 to Greene County and into Newberry and some county roads where Bays eventually stopped and was captured.
