Sharon Meade is the new Cancer Patient Navigator at DCH

Daviess Community Hospital  has announced that RN Sharon Mead, has accepted the position of “Cancer Patient Navigator”.

She’ll act as a guide, educator, liaison and advocate for the newly diagnosed cancer patients and their families. Another role that Sharon will play involves educating the public on the importance of regular preventive screenings such as mammograms, colonoscopies and lung cancer screenings.

 

Meade  says she’s  a two time breast cancer survivor knows firsthand that it’s important for the patient and the family to have help whenever they need it.

Sharon has been a nurse for 37 years, 22 of those with Daviess Community Hospital and clinics.  In previous roles, she has served as an oncology nurse, home health and hospice nurse, and on the hospital’s Med Surg unit.  She is the captain of the hospital’s Susan G. Komen team and is a member of the Academy of Oncology Nurse Navigators as well as the Oncology Nursing Society.
