State Attorney General Greg Zoeller is poised to join two Republican state senators in the race for the Indiana congressional seat that GOP Rep. Todd Young is giving up to run for the U.S. Senate next year.

Zoeller has formed a fundraising committee for the 9th District congressional seat and is set to make a campaign announcement Monday in Jeffersonville.

He would join state Senators Brent Waltz of Greenwood and Erin Houchin of Salem as Republican candidates in the district stretching from the southern suburbs of Indianapolis to the Ohio River counties near Louisville, Kentucky.

Zoeller was first elected state attorney general in 2008 and won re-election by a wide margin in 2012.

Young announced Sunday his bid to succeed retiring Republican U.S. Senator Dan Coats.
