Heavy rains create some problems

Last night’s storms caused power outages in the Odon and surrounding area that lasted into this morning.  Duke Energy crews were called out to work on the problems.

A tornado warning was issued for Northern Knox and Daviess Counties late yesterday afternoon. Authorities reported no major problems, other than the power outages.

The fast heavy rains did prompt some water rescues in Bicknell at a couple of homes according to dispatchers and media reports.

In Washington, streets flooded heavily in the afternoon during a 15 minute major downpour.  UP to 4 inches was reported throughout the afternoon in some areas.  The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department parking lot flooded, and waters got inside the building but no major damage occurred.

There is likely some county roads washed out throughout the listening area. Do be careful as you travel and watch for high water on roads and never drive through flooded roadways.

Today we’ll  see scattered storms and heavy rainfall which could result in flash flooding.  A flash flood watch remains in affect through 8pm.
