The United Way of Daviess County has been awarded a $36,000 Work2Gether (W2G) grant from the Indiana Association of United Ways.

In September last year , the local United Way began a pilot afterschool program at Lena Dunn Elementary School which offers tutoring and mentoring focused on improving reading skills and enrichment. Dusty Davis, United Way of Daviess County Board Chair, says the  grant allows the United Way to move to a a STEM/Reading curriculum next year and provide matching dollars for campaign pledges which supports the work.

Statewide, five million dollars is available to support community work in education, financial stability or health, matching local fund raising increases during 2014 and 2015.
