Vincennes Lincoln fell to Evansville Memorial 6-2 Saturday in the baseball regional semifinal in 3A. Silver Creek went on to beat Memorial in the championship 7-1.

In 1A, the Barr Reeve Vikings knocked of top ranked Borden in the semifinals 3-1 and moved on to the championship Saturday night. It was there that the season would come to an end in the Loogootee regional as the Vikings fell to Tecumseh 4-1. Barr Reeve ends a great run at 22-7 on the year.
In the girls softball semistate at Brown County, Tri-West Hendricks knocked out the Pike Central Chargers 3-0 Saturday morning. Tri-West would go on to win the championship with a 3-0 win over Corydon Central in the title match-up. Pike Central ends a fantastic run this year at 18-7.
In the boys golf sectional at Vincennes, Simon Parsons of Washington advanced out of sectional with a 77 on the day and will move on to regional playGibson Southern, Vincennes Lincoln, and South Knox advanced as the top three teams. South Knox just edged out Barr Reeve to move on going to a fifth golfer tie-break. Both teams finished the day at 330.
Abby Ballengee at Barr Reeve had a great State Finals career wrap up in Track and Field on Saturday. Ballengee finished in a 3-way tie for 9th; ending up tied for 10th and missing the podium by 1. She vaulted her personal record at 11’3”. Congratulations Abby on an awesome high school career. Elle Knepp of Barr Reeve also competed in the 100 hurdles at State Saturday finishing with a time of 16.10 as just a sophomore. Great job!
In the girls tennis regional individual tournament at Bedford on Saturday, Dylan DeCoursey and Sydni Swartzentruber fell short to a tough doubles duo of Kelly Blair and Chrissy Marx from Evansville Mater Dei.
In the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet, Will Power used a two-stop strategy to perfection to win the Detroit Grand Prix and claim his first IndyCar victory of the season. The Australian native began the race in the 8th row alongside Kyle Kirkwood but quickly cemented himself as the guy to beat at Belle Isle. Power led 55 of the 70 laps on Sunday fighting off a charging Alexander Rossi in the final stages of the race. Rossi, on the heels of the announcement of his departure from Andretti Autosport, gave a late charge on more durable tires but couldn’t overcome Power. Finishing in third was Scott Dixon from Chip Ganassi Racing followed by pole winner Josef Newgarden in fourth and Pato O’Ward in the fifth spot. With the win, Power takes over the series lead by just three points over Indianapolis 500 winner Marcus Ericsson. The NTT IndyCar Series is in Wisconsin on June 11 for the Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America.
