After 27 years as Chief of the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, Chief Tony Wichman has decided to step down.
The WTFD board has appointed Assistant Chief Dave Gray as the new Fire Chief.
The fire department says Chief Wichman treated the volunteer position as if it were a full-time job, serving the citizens of the Washington Township and his fellow firefighters with pride and dedication.
Members also congratulated Chief Gray on his new position.
They say they look forward to serving under his leadership.
Wichman will remain a member of WTFD serving as an Assistant Chief.
