Dr. Rev. Leroy Carlton Pinkham Jr., 92, died Dec. 9, 2021, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes. He had lived at Washington Nursing Center for 12 years before being transferred to Willow Manor, Vincennes, in 2020. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Washington.
Leroy was born Sep. 16, 1929, in Hartford, CT, to Leroy Carlton Pinkham Sr. and Lucy (Young) Pinkham. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, stationed in West Germany. He was ordained as a Baptist minister Aug. 4, 1973, in Pittsfield, ME.
He married Carolyn Bates Kealiher June 30, 1956, and she died Aug. 17, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his youngest son, Joel, in 1975.
Leroy graduated from Gordon College of Theology and Missions June 3, 1957, with a bachelor of science degree. He received a master of education degree from the University of Maine Aug. 17, 1962. He graduated from Faith Theological Seminary Oct. 15, 1969, with a master of divinity degree. He received a doctor of religious education degree from International Bible Institute & Seminary Feb. 5, 1981.
He pastored churches in Maine and Pennsylvania. He served as principal and/or teacher at schools in Maine, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Minnesota; and also was the Representative of the Friends of Israel.
Leroy is survived by two sons, Timothy (Peggy) Hillman Pinkham of Washington, and Stephen John Pinkham of Lynnwood, WA; one daughter, Ruth Ann Pinkham of Georgia; one sister, Marilyn Testa of New Mexico; three brothers, Ken Pinkham of North Carolina, Fred Pinkham of Maryland and Wayne (Sandy) Pinkham of Georgia; seven grandchildren, Rebekah Pinkham of Indianapolis, Joel (Megan) Pinkham of Iowa, Nicole Pinkham of Florida, Brianna (Brian) Morrell of Maine, Erin (Lichao) Hu of Maine, Vicki Pinkham of Maine and Amanda Pinkham  of California ; and three great-grandsons, Ayden Darnell and Carter Cox, both of California, and Titus Pinkham of Florida.
The funeral will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Fredrick and Son-Gill Funeral Home, 308 E. Walnut St. Washington, IN 47501 with Pastor Fernando Hernandez officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 14, 2021 until the time of service also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery; Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 418 E.
