Hit and Run Sends One Vincennes Woman to the Hospital, Another to Jail

Monday, the Vincennes Police Department reported on its investigation of a serious hit-and-run accident on Hart Street Sunday morning.
According to the Vincennes Police Department, the accident happened around 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning when a vehicle struck a bicyclist along Hart Street in Vincennes.    Police say they believe that the car involved left the road, hit the curb, and struck a female victim on the bicycle.  The victim was found unresponsive by police after the alleged driver of the hit and run vehicle had left the scene.  The victim, whose identity has not been released, was airlifted to an Evansville hospital for treatment.  Reports say her injuries includes a broken leg, fractured pelvis, and ribs, as well as head injuries.
Authorities later located a car with significant front end damage and a group of people around it.  The driver was identified as 32 year-old Rebecca LeAnn Workman, of Vincennes.  Tests show Workman was allegedly driving under the influence of illegal narcotics at the time of the accident.
Workman has been charged with felony counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing catastrophic injury, and with leaving the scene of an accident.
