
The Indianapolis Colts announced that home games at Lucas Oil Stadium will be open to full capacity this season. The announcement came after the team received approval from the Marion County Health Department following extensive consultation. Normal capacity at Lucas Oil Stadium is 63 thousand fans. The Colts also announced their training camp schedule for Grand Park in Westfield. Veteran players will report Tuesday, July 27th with the first practice open to fans the next day. There will be no COVID-related capacity restrictions.
Arrow McLaren SP announced that Felix Rosenqvist has been cleared to return for this weekend’s IndyCar race at Mid-Ohio. Rosenqvist missed the last two races after a nasty crash in the first race of the Detroit doubleheader. Rinus VeeKay is expected to return for Ed Carpenter Racing after missing the race at Road America. VeeKay suffered a broken collarbone while biking earlier this month, and will get checked out by IndyCar’s medical team Wednesday, according to a report from Motorsport.com.
Gavin Sheets drove in two runs and had two hits in his MLB debut, and the White Sox held on to beat the Twins 7-6 at Guaranteed Rate Field. Chicago built up a 7-2 lead with a four-run fifth inning before Minnesota clawed back into the game. The tying run reached third base with two outs in the top of the ninth before Liam Hendriks forced a game-ending flyout to center field. Chicago’s lead over Cleveland in the AL Central is now at 2.5 games after the Indians and Tigers were rained out in Cleveland.
The San Diego Padres jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and never trailed in a 5-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Jesse Winker’s two-run home run in the fifth inning cut the deficit to one, but the Reds could not score again against the San Diego bullpen. Tommy Pham drove in two for the Padres, including a solo home run in the fourth. The St. Louis Cardinals held on for a 3-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Nolan Arenado hit a two-run homer in the fifth, and Carlos Martinez earned the victory after striking out six in six one-run innings.
Brandon Woodruff struck out eight, and the Brewers handed the Cubs their fifth straight loss Tuesday night. Milwaukee defeated Chicago 2-1 despite managing just two hits. Christian Yelich hit an RBI double in the first to give the Brewers a 1-0 lead. Patrick Wisdom tied the game with an RBI double in the top of the fourth, but Milwaukee took the lead for good in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single from Jace Peterson. Milwaukee has won seven in a row and now has a five game lead in the NL Central.
