Pike Central has a new Football Coach.  Former Washington head coach Kelly Brashear has accepted the job to take over the program at Pike Central.  Congratulations to Coach Brashear.

In other Coaching moves, former Barr Reeve graduate Mark Rohrer has announced he will be leaving his coaching job at Southridge to take over the Gibson Southern Boys Basketball program.  Good luck and best wishes to Coach Rohrer.  In another note from Southridge, Raider Baseball Stand-out Colson Montgomery has announced he will continue his baseball career next year at Indiana University.
Jack Fry made a nice memory last night and was the hero as the Hatchet Senior went yard for a walk-off two run homer in the bottom of the 7th leading the Hatchets to a 6 to 4 win over the North Daviess Cougars in their final game of the regular season.  North Daviess has a great team and played very well throughout the night against both the Hatchet Ace pitchers.  Washington will play in the Southridge Sectional opening against Princeton on Wednesday night at League Stadium.

The Hatchet Girls Tennis team defeated South Knox 5-0 in the semifinal of sectionals last night. . The Hatchets will play Vincennes Lincoln @ Vincennes in the sectional final Sat at 10 am.
Loogootee claimed their own tennis sectional title last night edging out Barr Reeve in the championship 3 to 2.
The Washington Boys Track team finished fifth overall at the Princeton sectional last night.   Several did qualify for regional including the 400 Relay team of Keagan McDannald, Layton Terry, Davison St Victor, and Dameon Colvin.  Keagan McDannald finshed third in the 100, Ivenson Dumervil three competitions finishing 2nd in the 200,  first in the  400, and first in Long jump.  Louk Gray will also move on with a 3rd place finish in discus.  Barr Reeve’s Kaden Buse advanced in the 400 meter dash.  Barr Reeve also advanced in the 1600 meter relay. And Austin Webber in the 300 meter hurdles from North Daviess along with the Cougar 400 meter relay team.  Princeton captured the team win with Gibson Southern close behind in second, South Knox, Vincennes, and Washington rounding out the top five.
The Indiana Pacers season has come to an end as they fall to the Washington Wizards 142-115 in the NBAs Play-In Tournament. The Pacers had made the playoffs the last five seasons. Despite six Pacers players scoring double figures, it wasn’t enough to compete with the Wizards.
The San Francisco Giants had their way with the Cincinnati Reds as they won 19-4 on Thursday afternoon thus sweeping the four-game series. The Giants scored 9 runs alone just in the 3rd inning. Four different Giant batters would hit homeruns. San Francisco’s Johnny Cueto pitched 5 innings and earned 4 K’s.

A bit of drama today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as Colton Herta crashed into Scott McLaughlin and the wall during the third day of practice for the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. The accident was caused by the three Rahal Letterman drivers as they attempted to take a photo as Herta was coming out of turn four. All drivers involved were not injured. 2013 Indy 500 winner Tony Kanaan had the fast lap speed of 225.341 MPH. Conor Daly was second at 225.245 MPH. Santino Ferrucci rounds out the top 3 at 224.922 MPH. The last day of practice is Friday with qualifying coming this weekend.
