The Daviess County Innkeepers tax increase has taken another step forward. The proposal is on it’s way to the statehouse as part of Senate Bill 381. The Daviess County Council passed the resolution last month proposing a 4% increase to the tax. Since 1987, the tax has remained at 5%, but the new bill would move that up to 9%. According to Joe Morris with the Daviess County Chamber of Commerce, the additional funds will go towards promoting tourism for Daviess County and establishing a convention center for the county.
