It could soon cost more to smoke in Indiana

It could soon cost more to smoke in Indiana. The state’s Committee on Public Health is considering a plan that would add a dollar to the state’s cigarette tax. The same plan would add a dollar-50 in taxes to a vial of vape liquid. Supporters say a higher tax would raise money but would also get some people to stop smoking. Indiana’s cigarette tax is currently just under a dollar, but the plan would boost that to just under two dollars per-pack. That would be less than Illinois’ nearly three dollar per-pack tax, but higher than the dollar 10-cents that Kentucky charges in taxes.
