Restaurant workers weigh in on minimum wage debate

money-dollars-and-cents

Some restaurant workers are making sure they’re not forgotten in the debate over the increase in minimum wage. Waiters and waitresses make a minimum wage of $2.13, plus tips. It’s called the “tip wage,” and they want that to go up at least 50 cents. Lisa Clodfelter, who works at Four Seasons Family Restaurant in Greenwood, told WISH-TV she makes between $400 and $500 in tips per week. She says if all employees were moved to $15 per hour wage, she’d actually make less. The Indiana Restaurant and Lodging Association says if tips go away altogether, food and drink prices will increase by 30%.
