Two arrested in Vanderburgh County after police chase

Two Evansville men were arrested after a brief chase and a crash. On Wednesday afternoon, Indiana State Police observed a 2005 Jaguar traveling left of center on Broadway in Evansville. A traffic stop was initiated when the driver of the Jaguar turned into a residence. The driver then turned around in the yard and fled east. Officers terminated the chase due to safety concerns, but later found out the vehicle had crashed. Police were able to locate and arrest the passenger who was identified as 23-year-old Kwauntai Flax of Evansville. Vanderburgh County sheriff’s deputies were able to locate the driver who was hiding in the woods.
The driver was identified as 22-year-old Brett Salmon of Evansville. Officers also discovered that Salmon had struck another vehicle on Broadway causing minor injuries to the female driver. Upon their arrest, Salmon and Flax were having trouble breathing so they were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated and released. Further investigation revealed they were under the influence of K2. Both men were transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail. Salmon is currently being held without bond. Flax is currently being held on a $100 bond.
