The Washington Lady Hatchets improved to 12-1 with a big win at home last night over Pike Central 72-27.  Alaina Thorne had 22, while Kencia Lavasseuer added 21.  Washington will travel to Princeton tomorrow.  Tip off at 2:30pm on Memories 107.9fm.

One boys game last night, Pike Central edged out White River Valley in the Greene County tournament 53-50.  The Chargers will now face Shakamak tomorrow afternoon.

The Washington Wrestling team lost a close match to Forest Park yesterday on Senior Night 36-33.  Several weight classes on both sides were forfeit as Washington had more in the bigger classes while the Rangers had more in the smaller classes.  Washington’s Brady Byrd did post the win in the 106 pound weight class 5-2.  Byrd a freshman defeated senior Cody Barnes.  The Hatchets recognized their seniors Louk Gray and Luis Abrego on Senior Night. Washington will travel to Tecumseh tomorrow.
The Illinois High School Association met yesterday and again ruled that all high school sports in Illinois remain on pause.  Low risk sports may not resume until the state returns to phase 4 in the All Sports policy.  With no specific timeline established for the return of sports and the calendar shrinking, the board says putting together the puzzle to allow all sports to return is becoming more likely improbable.  The board urged residents to continue to be vigilant as a lower positivity rate remains the key in high school sports returning in Illinois.  The next meeting of the board will be January 13.
 Indiana had opportunities to win but fell to eighth-ranked Wisconsin 80-73 in double overtime Thursday night. Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 23 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in the loss. The sophomore big man had a potential game-winning shot in the final seconds of regulation that just rimmed out. The Hoosiers had the ball at the end of the first overtime, but Al Durham was tied up by Brad Davidson and possession went back to the Badgers with 1.3 seconds left. IU has not won in Madison since 1998, a string of 18 straight losses at the Kohl Center.  The Hoosiers are 7-5 with a 2-3 record in the Big Ten and will play at Nebraska Sunday.
Purdue basketball returns to action tonight at 23rd ranked Michigan State. The Boilermakers had Tuesday’s game against Nebraska postponed due to COVID-19. Purdue is 7-5 with a 2-3 conference record.

The Indianapolis Colts kickoff the NFL Playoffs Saturday afternoon when they take on the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card round. Indianapolis earned the seventh and final seed with an 11-5 record, and has won four out of five. The Bills have won six straight games by an average of 20 points per game. Buffalo was 13-3 in the regular season and earned the two seed. It is expected to be partly cloudy and in the low-to-mid 30s Saturday in Orchard Park, New York where Bills Stadium is located. The home team is favored by six points, and the Colts have embraced the underdog role.
