A man was arrested in Vincennes for burglary on Thursday. At around 12:34 AM on December 24th, a Vincennes Police Officer observed a subject who was carrying items to a vehicle in the parking lot of Kemper CPA. The subject entered one of the vehicles and began to drive away. The officer ordered the vehicle to stop and also had his emergency lights activated, but the suspect quickly accelerated and sped through the parking lot. The vehicle then hit the curb and went out of sight around the west side of the building. The officer went to the front of the building and did not observe the vehicle but did observe a male subject running south. The officer took the male subject into custody. He was identified as Shawn Taft who was a passenger in the vehicle.
After other officers arrived on scene, the officer went back to Kemper CPA where he observed the vehicle unoccupied and stuck in the chain link fence between Kemper and Duke Energy. Officers went to Chip Sparks Auction where they observed a door to be open and observed a small white shed with the lock cut off of it. Pry marks were also located on the back door of the Auction House. The driver of the vehicle has not been located at this time. Mr. Taft was taken to the Knox County Jail and is charged with Burglary and Resisting Law Enforcement.
