The Hatchets Boys let one slip away Saturday night falling at home to Tell City 54 to 49 in overtime. The Hatchets led by 20 heading into the 4th quarter, but Tell City fought back to claim the victory. Washington will travel to Loogootee on Tuesday night.

The College Football Playoff semifinal scheduled to take place at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, has been moved to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the Rose Bowl announced Saturday. The game will take place Jan. 1 and be broadcast by ESPN. According to the release, the decision to move the game was based on the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Southern California, along with the inability for players’ and coaches’ families to attend because of state restrictions during the pandemic. Since March, all sporting events in California have been unable to host fans and participants’ families.
Indiana will play Ole Miss in the Outback Bowl in Tampa January 2nd. The Hoosiers were ranked 11th in the final College Football Playoff rankings, which left them one spot out of a New Year’s Six bowl berth. Indiana is 6-1 and their number seven ranking in the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll is the program’s highest ranking since 1967. Ole Miss is 4-5 and is led by former USC and Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin. The Rebels will be without star wide receiver Elijah Moore, who ended his season early to begin preparing for the NFL Draft. The Hoosiers were also passed up for the Citrus Bowl in favor of Northwestern, and will be the highest-ranked team to ever play in the Outback Bowl. The Hoosiers and Rebels will kick off from Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium January 2nd at 12:30 p.m.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish earned the fourth and final spot into the College Football Playoff and will face top-ranked Alabama in Arlington, Texas on January 1st. The Fighting Irish held on to the final spot in the playoff after losing to Clemson 34-10 in Saturday’s ACC championship game. Brian Kelly’s team is 10-1 and will take on the undefeated Crimson Tide for a trip to the National Championship game. It is Notre Dame’s second trip to the College Football Playoff after losing to Clemson in 2018, while Alabama has played in the Playoff in six of its seven years. The Fighting Irish and Crimson Tide will match up New Year’s Day at 5 p.m.
For the second time in three weeks, the Indianapolis Colts beat the Houston Texans thanks to a forced fumble deep in Colts territory in the final minutes. Indianapolis improved to 10-4 on the season with a sweep of their AFC South rival. Indy has won three straight and stayed tied atop the division with Tennessee. Two weeks ago in Houston, Texans QB Deshaun Watson fumbled a low snap at the five yard line, which was recovered by Grover Stewart with just over a minute to go. Indianapolis plays at Pittsburgh Sunday in their biggest game of the season.
In college hoops, Purdue beat Notre Dame 88-78 on Saturday in a Crossroads Classic Challenge game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Indiana defeated Butler by a final score of 68-60 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon in connection with the Crossroads Classic. Indiana (5-2) will open Big Ten play next week. The Hoosiers host Northwestern on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
